Why this bottle
There is a savoury streak running through this wine that sets it apart from the region's sweeter expressions. Cloves, dark chocolate, cold tea and dried herbs sit over mulberry fruit, and the long time in French oak has built complexity rather than simply adding vanilla. Fine-grained tannins hold it together. Ken Gargett scored it 93 points and put the drinking window out to 2037, so there is no rush.
