Why this bottle
Three Springs is Schild Estate's statement, and the critics have agreed emphatically: 98 points from Russell Gallagher at Vinomasters, 97 from Sam Kim at Wine Orbit, and 96 apiece from James Halliday, Ken Gargett and Ray Jordan. Deep inky crimson in the glass, it opens with blackberry, ripe plum, dark cherry and dark chocolate, then cracked black pepper and savoury spice arrive to give it lift. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, dark fruit wrapped in firm, polished tannins and refined oak. Sealed with wax over cork, and built to be opened a very long way from now.
