Why this bottle
This vineyard sits on a distinctive low-vine trellis in the foothills, and Zerella only declare it in the years that earn it. Fruit is hand-harvested, destemmed with ten percent whole bunches added, cold soaked for five days, then wild fermented for fifteen days on skins before twelve months in seasoned French oak — seasoned, not new, so the fruit stays in front. Bright ruby-red, with lifted cherry cola and red liquorice over cinnamon and clove. The palate is rich, soft and fleshy with rounded tannins and a fresh, persistent close.
